Identity
is a topic I return to often with my students. There
was a time long ago when I considered self-portraits to
be images drawn from a mirror. Now I view
self-investigation as one of the most important topics
in my class. We have considered various lenses of our
personal identity: cultural, familial, stereotypical,
heroic, and fragmented to name a few. Currently we are
considering our palimpsestic, other, cute/anti-cute
identities. The possibilities are endless. We learn
what makes us tick and why.
